Homecoming At MCHS

It was Homecoming for the Eagles football team of Montgomery County High School last Friday night as they hosted the Trojans of Telfair County. Things did not go as planned for MCHS as they struggled against Telfair.

Before the game, the Eagles crowned their 2024 Homecoming King and Queen. Erin Adams was named Homecoming Queen and Alex Autry was named Homecoming King for the Eagles.

But once the game started, it was all Telfair as they pulled away from MCHS on the way to a big win. Telfair got on the board in the first quarter with an 80-yard touchdown pass and a two-point conversion to take an 8-0 lead.

Telfair added to that in the second quarter with two more touchdowns. The first came on a 40yard punt return for a score, and the second was on a 20-yard run with less than a minute to play in the first half. They failed on a two-point conversion and on an extra point, but they led 20-0 heading into halftime.

Early in the third quarter, the Trojans scored on a 60-yard run and added the PAT to make the score 270. They increased their lead to 34-0 after a short touchdown run to cap off a drive with seven minutes on the clock.

They scored one more time in the third quarter to take a 40-0 lead into the fourth. Telfair added one more touchdown with eight minutes left in the game as they led 47-0 over the Eagles.

MCHS finally got on the board with five minutes to play in the game on a 50-yard passing touchdown. They added the extra point to make the final score, 47-7. This week the Eagles will be in Vienna to face Dooly County on Friday at 7:30 p.m. for a Region game. MCHS is now 2-3 on the season and they are 0-1 in Region play.
