Lady Vikings Split Games
The Treutlen County High School Lady Vikings softball team played two games last week and split those Region contests. They lost on Tuesday to Telfair County but bounced back with a win over Montgomery County on Wednesday.
Vs. Telfair
Telfair got on the board in the bottom of the first inning with two runs. Treutlen came back with a run in the top of the second inning, but three more from Telfair in the bottom of the second pushed their lead to 5-1.
The Lady Vikings added a run in the fourth, but again Telfair answered with three more runs. Treutlen plated one more in the fifth, but three more from Telfair gave them the win by the run rule, 11-3.
Vs. Montgomery
Treutlen rolled to a three-inning win over the Lady Eagles of Montgomery on Wednesday. In the top of the first inning, Kenley Kight drove in a run, Chloey Hutcheson triple to bring in a run, Ruthie Blair added an RBI single, and then Addy Horne hit into a fielder’s choice to make the score 4-0. Kaitlyn Hackle drove in another run, and then Jayden Rogers stole home to make it 6-0. Treutlen picked up one more run in the inning to take a 7-0 lead over MCHS.
In the top of the second inning, the Vikings increased their lead with eight more runs. Taylor Gillis and Kaylyn Kight both came through with RBI singles. The Vikings loaded up the bases and a walk to Rogers brought in another run. Hackle picked up an RBI single, as did Kenley Kight. Hutcheson added an RBI, with Blair and Ella Roberson following her with two more RBI’s. That pushed the Treutlen lead to 15-0.
In the third inning, Rogers capped the scoring off with an RBI double to give Treutlen a 16-0 lead. The Vikings held in the bottom of the third inning to take the win by the run rule.
Roberson was the winning pitcher giving up just one hit in the game.
This week Treutlen takes on Wilcox County on Wednesday at home at 5:30 p.m.
