Man Killed in Higgston Crash

A collision between a pedestrian and vehicle took the life of one man on Friday morning, September 20.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, Mark Fulton, 60, of Alamo, was driving southbound along Georgia Highway 29 in Higgston when Joseph Killingsworth, 77, of Ailey, ran across the road around 10 feet south of the highway’s intersection with Old Dairy Road. Killingsworth was struck by the front end of Fulton’s vehicle upon entering the southbound lane.

Fulton came to a controlled stop less than 100 feet after the impact and immediately called 911. Upon their arrival, the Toombs- Montgomery EMS paramedics took Killingsworth to the hospital by ambulance, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
