Second Win For VHA Softball
The Lady Eagles softball team of Vidalia Heritage Academy played two games last week as they took a win from First Presbyterian Christian Academy, but lost to Twiggs Academy.
Vs. FPCA
VHA took the early lead with an RBI single from Libby Clark in the top of the first inning. They added to that lead in the second inning with five more runs. They scored the first four of those runs on a fielder’s choice, a ground out, and an error. Allison McClain followed with an RBI double to make the score 6-0.
VHA added to their lead in the third inning with hits from CK Hamilton and Zoe Caraballo as they pushed the lead to 9-0. FPCA got on the board in the bottom of the third inning with two runs to close the lead to 9-2, but two more from VHA in the fifth gave the Lady Eagles an 11-2 lead.
FPCA did score one more run in the fifth inning, but it was not enough as VHA took the win by the run rule, 11-3.
Vs. Twiggs
It was a tough loss for VHA against the Lady Cobras of Twiggs in a high scoring game. Twiggs took the lead in the top of the first inning with two runs, but VHA tied the game in the bottom of the frame with two runs off an error and a bases loaded walk.
In the second inning, Caraballo drove in a run to give VHA the lead, 3-2, over Twiggs. Twiggs came back with two more runs in the top of the fourth inning as they went back on top, 4-3, but VHA tied the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the inning with a run.
Twiggs plated three more in the fifth to begin to pull away. VHA scored one in the bottom of the inning, but Twiggs added four more in the top of sixth as they pushed their lead to 11-5. Twiggs scored five more in the seventh inning to take a 16-5 lead over VHA.
The Eagles tried to make it a game as they got to work in the bottom of the seventh inning, but they came up short as they fell to Twiggs, 16-10.
