Toombs Co. Hosts Bulldog Invitational

The Toombs County High School cross country teams hosted their 6th annual “Bulldog Invitational” this past Thursday, with 19 schools from the area competing. The Bulldogs ran well, with the girls placing 4th out of 8 teams, and the boys placing 3rd out of 10 teams.
Coach Jeremey Moore said, “I was proud of how both groups ran. We got rained out at the Jeff Davis meet last week, so it’s been two weeks since we’ve run a race, and it was good to be running on our home course. The girls know they have work to do to reach where we want to be. The past few weeks, they have been working harder, pushing each other, and lowering their times for the season.
“On the boys’ side, we were only 8 points away from a 2nd place finish. Juan Luna led the way, winning the boys’ race with a time of 17:45. Our 2-7 on the boys’ side are running consistently and improving, but we have to continue to work each week and improve our times if we want to close the gap between us and the top teams in our classification.”
This Thursday the Bulldogs will be in Eastman for the Dodge County Invitational.
