The Vidalia High School Indians softball team played three games last week. They lost to rival Toombs County in a Region matchup on Tuesday, took a nonregion win over East Laurens on Wednesday, and then won a Region game over St. Vincent’s on Thursday. VHS is now 9-12 on the year and they are 5-3 in Region action.

Vs. Toombs It was a tough game for VHS as they lost to Toombs. The Indians struggled at the plate in the game as they fell 9-0. TCHS scored four runs in the top of the first inning and added another in the second to lead the game 5-0 early.

TCHS plated one more run in the fifth inning and three in the seventh on the way to the win.

Vs. E. Laurens

VHS bounced back with a win over the Lady Falcons on Wednesday. Diedra Boston led the way at the plate for VHS with five hits, including a solo home run.

The Falcons went on top in the second inning with three runs, but VHS got the bats working in the fourth inning. An error by the Falcons brought in the first run for Vidalia, and then a triple from Savannah Rushing closed the lead to 3-2. VHS tied the game on another Falcon error.

In the fifth inning, Boston gave VHS the lead with her home run, and Rushing added another RBI as VHS led, 5-3. The Indians added two more in the sixth and four in the seventh on the way to an 11-4 victory.

Tori Polke got the win for VHS in the circle.

Vs. St. Vincent’s

VHS blanked the Saints on Thursday for a needed Region win to put them in second place behind Toombs.

The Indians went on top with two runs in the top of the first inning with Boston driving in one of those runs on a single. VHS added four more runs in the second inning with RBI’s coming from Gabby Royal, Polke, and Boston.

Then a big third inning from VHS closed out the game with a run rule win. VHS plated nine more runs in the third inning and held in the bottom of the frame to take the win, 15-0.

This week VHS had a rematch with East Laurens on Monday after presstime. They will be back in action with a Region game against Savannah Christian on Thursday at home at 6:00 p.m.
