The Vidalia High School Indians cross country teams took part in the Toombs County High School Bulldog Invitational last Thursday. Both teams had a great showing as they came away as the Grand Champions of the meet.

The Indians were named Grand Champions at the Toombs County Bulldog Invitational with combined boys and girls scores. The boys came away as team champions scoring 33 points over Jeff Davis' 95 points. Cash Driggers placed 3rd, Abrien Anthony placed 4th, Champlee Evans Placed 6th, Simon Collins placed 7th and Liam Mac-Gregor placed 13.

Georgia Meredith had an exceptional run winning the girls race while Judith Hussey placed 7th and Sadie Siegmund placed 14. Combining that with the efforts of Gabby Hester, Cannon Sharpton and Alana Claxton, the ladies placed 3rd to the champions from Jeff Davis and second place Savannah Christian.

VHS Coach Mandy Godbee said, “I am so proud of their performance in the hot humid weather, but these athletes came to compete and raced extremely well. We had 5 personal best performances with many to follow.”

This week the Indians travel to Jones County on Saturday for the Greyhound Invitational.
