2Wins For Lady Crusaders
The Lady Crusaders softball team of Robert Toombs Christian Academy played three games the week before the Hurricane. The Lady Crusaders faced off with Windsor Academy on Monday, Pinewood Christian on Tuesday, and David Emanuel Academy on Wednesday. The Crusaders came away with two wins on the week with the only loss being to Pinewood in a onerun game. vs. Windsor
It was a strange game against the Lady Knights of Windsor. It was scoreless until the eighth inning, and then in the ninth, the Crusaders exploded for seven runs to take the win.
The game was scoreless through regulation, sending it to extra innings tied at 0-0. In the top of the eighth inning, Maddie Joyner drove in the first run of the game with a sacrifice fly. But Windsor plated a run in the bottom of the inning to send it to the ninth.
Then in the top of the ninth inning, Annabelle Coe drove in a run with a single, Emily Edwards followed with an RBI single, Kinsley Kennedy drove in two runs, and then Railee Thomas hit a triple that brought in two more runs. Joyner came through with another sacrifice fly as RTCA took an 8-1 lead over Windsor. Windsor managed to score just one more run in the bottom of the ninth, as RTCA won the game 8-2. vs. Pinewood
Pinewood jumped out with six runs in the top of the first inning to take a commanding lead. But RTCA kept battling as they scored a run in the bottom of the first and then three more in the second to close the lead to 6-4.
Pinewood added another run in the top of the third inning, but RTCA answered with two more in the bottom half as they trailed, 7-6.
Pinewood scored their final run of the game in the top of the fifth, but RTCA managed to plate just one more run in the seventh inning as they fell, 8-7. vs. DEA
RTCA came back to take the win over DEA. The Lady Eagles of DEA picked up three runs in the top of the first inning. RTCA scored a run in the bottom of the first and then added two more in the second to tie the game at 3-3.
DEA came back with a run in the fourth and two more in the fifth to take a 6-3 lead. RTCA scored two runs in the fifth inning, and took the lead in the sixth on RBI singles by Edwards, Thomas, and Braylin Pittman.
RTCA held on to win the game, 8-6.
RTCA does not have any games scheduled for this week.
