Lilly Grace Maybin grounded out, which helped the Indians tie the game at three in the bottom of the third.
Vidalia took the lead in the bottom of the fourth. An error scored one run, to give Vidalia the upper hand, 4-3.
A double by Abigail Holt gave East Laurens the lead, 5-4, in the top of the fifth.
Savannah Rushing grounded out, which helped the Indians tie the game at five in the bottom of the fifth.
A solo home run to center field by DeAndrea Lowther gave East Laurens the lead, 6-5, in the top of the sixth.
Vidalia took the lead, 8-6, in the bottom of the sixth thanks to singles by Polke, and Deidra Boston.
Polke earned the win for Vidalia. The freshman starter gave up four hits and six runs (one earned) over seven innings, striking out four and walking one.
Royal and Polke were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in two runs for the Indians. Miya Howard and Boston each collected two hits. Sadie Berry added two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, tallying five walks for the game. vs. Sav. Christian
The Vidalia Indians Softball Team got a big region win Wednesday when they defeated Savannah Christian 4-0.
The Indians got on the board in the first inning after Laylah Brantley singled, scoring Gabby Royal and Tori Polke.
Brantley came through again when she tripled in the bottom of the 6th after Deidra Boston was hit by a pitch. Laylah scored to make it 4-0 when Lily Grace Maybin followed with a rbi single Tori Polke earned the win for Vidalia. The freshman hurler allowed four hits and zero runs over seven innings, striking out five and walking two. Tori inched closer to the Freshman single season strikeout record of 81 currently held by Madison Starr. Polke sits at 80 Ks on the season.
The Indians’ defense was in top form during the game. They turned one double play and didn’t commit a single error in the field. The defense was highlighted by a spectacular play by Miya Howard deep in the right field corner.
The Indians hosted Toombs County on Tuesday after presstime. They will host Swainsboro on Wednesday for a double header starting at 4:00 p.m. and then ECI will come to town on Thursday at 6:00 p.m.
