Wheeler Over Hawkinsville

The Wheeler County High School Lady Bulldogs softball team picked up a win over Hawkinsville recently at home. Ava Dixon had a great game in the circle as she stuck out 12 batters on the way to a 9-3 victory.

Hawkinsville got on the board first with two runs in the top of the first inning, but Wheeler answered in the bottom of the frame with two to tie the game.

Wheeler added a run on a ball hit by Mackenzie Johnson in the second inning, and Shelley Conner drove in a run in the third inning to lead 4-2.

Wheeler plated five more in the fifth inning on the way to a 9-3 win.

Wheeler is now 14-4 on the year and they are 7-1 in Region play.

Wheeler was scheduled to play Wilcox County but that game has been moved due to the hurricane. They do not have any other games scheduled until next week.
