Lady Crusaders Take Region

The Lady Crusaders softball team of Robert Toombs Christian Academy played the final four games of their regular season last week and picked up two more wins. They closed out the regular season with an overall record of 15-8, and they were 10-2 in Region action and were the Region Champions.

Last week they were at David Emanuel Academy on Monday, were at First Presbyterian Christian Academy on Tuesday, traveled to Bulloch Academy on Wednesday, and finally hosted Citizens Christian on Thursday. vs. DEA

DEA picked up a run in the bottom of the first inning and two more in the second as they built a 3-0 lead. They plated another run in the third inning to lead 4-0.

RTCA got on the board in the top of the fifth inning, but DEA scored two more in the bottom of the frame. RTCA picked up one more run in the top of the seventh, but DEA took the win, 6-2. vs. FPCA

RTCA came out firing as they rolled to a run rule victory. RTCA scored four runs in the top of the first inning, including a big hit by Meredith Durden. They added four more in the second inning on hits by Maddie Joyner, Amelia Mercer, and Annabelle Coe. That put the Lady Crusaders on top 8-0.

RTCA closed out the win in the third inning. Anna Kate Joyner drove in a run Mary Frances Stanley picked up 2 RBI's, Chesney Burch added an RBI double and Braylin Pittman drove in a run as RTCA pulled away to a 15-0 win. vs. Bulloch

RTCA struggled against the Lady Gators of Bulloch, with RTCA's only run coming off a hit by Burch.

Bulloch took the lead in the first inning with two runs. RTCA made it 2-1 with the Burch RBI in the top of the fourth inning, but Bulloch answered with three runs in the bottom half of the inning to take a 5-1 lead.

Bulloch scored two more in the fifth as they took the win over RTCA, 7- 1. vs. CCA

In the final game of the regular season, it was Railee Thomas that came through big at the plate as she hit for the cycle for RTCA in their 11-3 win over CCA.

CCA took the early lead with a run in the top of the first inning, but RTCA came back with two runs in the bottom of the frame to lead, 2-1.

In the second inning, RTCA got RBI hits from Joyner and Durden to increase their lead to 4-1.

In the fourth inning, RTCA plated three more runs to push their lead to 7-1. CCA picked up two more runs in the top of the fifth inning to close the lead to 7-3.

Thomas had already hit a single, double, and a triple, and in the bottom of the fifth inning she came through with a 3-run home run to give RTCA a 10-3 lead, and to complete the cycle. RTCA added one more run in the sixth inning to win the game by the run rule, 11-3.

RTCA is now moving on to Columbus for the GIAA Elite 8 State Tournament. They will play their first game against Westwood Academy on Thursday at 10:00 a.m.
