Tori Polke pitched 7 innings, giving up five runs (two earned) on six hits, striking out eight and walking one.

In the loss, Polke set a new freshman strikeout record. Polke now has 88 Strikeouts on the season. The previous record, 81, was held by Madison Starr in 2019. Starr now pitches for Mercer University. vs. Swainsboro Game 1

In the first game of the double header, the Indians pulled away to a run rule win in five innings.

Swainsboro put the first runs on the board in the top of the first inning as they scored two unearned runs off of VHS errors.

But VHS jumped out with eight runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a commanding lead. They loaded up the bases and a walk by Deidra Boston brought in the first run of the game. That was followed by an RBI double by Laylah Brantley. RBI hits also came from Sadie Berry and Polke, with Elizabeth Sowell and Brantley walking in runs with the bases loaded.

VHS added three more runs in the second inning and then one more in the fourth on the way to a 12-2 win over the Lady Tigers in the first game of the double header.

VHS added a run in the third inning and then put four more on the board in the fourth inning as they took the win by the run rule, 8-0, in five innings. vs. ECI

The Indians closed out the week with a tough loss to the Lady Bulldogs of ECI. ECI took the lead, 1-0, in the top of the third inning, but VHS answered with two runs in the bottom half of the frame as Polke came through with a sacrifice fly and Lilly Grace Maybin singled in a run. That put VHS on top 2-1.

In the top of the fifth inning ECI tied the game at 2-2, and then they took the lead in the sixth with three more runs. That put them up 5-2. ECI added one more run in the top of the seventh inning for a 6-2 lead.

The Indians battled but fell short as they managed just two more runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, as ECI won the game, 6-4.
