CONTEXT

A compilation of quotations on a variety of issues by national, state and regional writers, well-known personalities, just plain everyday people and from various publications collected by the editors of THE ADVANCE.

Quotes for our Times:

Matt Vespa, Senior Editor at Townhall. com: Internal poll for Kamala in Wisconsin is absolutely brutal.

If Democrat polls say she’s under, it’s a cause for worry, though this will likely get buried as Hurricane Milton slams into Florida. Then again, Kamala did interviews with Howard Stern, lefty late-night hosts, and sat down for a sex podcast — all of this while victims of Hurricane Helene waited for aid. This woman doesn’t care about anyone who isn’t a Democrat. This party, for all the talk of diversity, is dominated by wealthy, whiny, white liberals who dominate the cities and coasts. Harris is underwater with most core Democratic voter groups, bound to be the worst-performing candidate with union voters, and is running woefully behind with black and Jewish voters.

Byron York, chief political correspondent for The Washington Examiner: When Kamala Harris' promises come to nothing.

The administration has imposed too many regulations on projects. It has insisted on the most expensive type of construction. It has insisted on climate change provisions. It has slowed the permitting process. It has decreed that union labor take precedence. And, from the Journal, 'The administration has also stipulated hiring preference for 'underrepresented' groups, including 'aging individuals,' prisoners, racial, religious, and ethnic minorities, 'Indigenous and Native American persons,' 'LGBTQI+ persons,' and 'persons adversely affected by persistent poverty or inequality.''

Tim Graham, executive editor of News-Busters and director of media analysis for the Media Research Center: Kamala's parade of (mostly) pablum interviews.

So it was surprising and refreshing when CBS correspondent Bill Whitaker challenged Harris with some obvious facts. He asked if it was a mistake to 'loosen the immigration policies as much as you did?' When she tried to claim the border was 'a long-standing problem,' he followed up: 'The numbers did quadruple under your watch.'

Whitaker also noted she flipped positions on a host of issues, from a fracking ban to a socialist 'Medicare for All' program. These are simple facts, so why are we amazed when a journalist simply points them out and asks her to explain?

Liz Peek, Fox News contributor and political commentator: Trump vs. Harris: The 'October surprise' is already here.

Our government is not only spending billions on the people of Lebanon and the war in Ukraine; it is also supporting the millions of migrants that Border Czar Harris allowed to enter our country illegally. The Biden-Harris White House and sanctuary cities rolled out the welcome mat, encouraging illegal immigration with free housing, free food, cell phones and other goodies. FEMA has helped fund that effort, leading critics to charge that the Biden-Harris White House is putting people in the country illegally ahead of our own citizens.
