The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has set up a Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) within the Department of Human Services in Lyons to help community members with their applications for disaster relief funding.

This Center, set up at 162 Oxley Drive in Lyons, is open from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday through Saturday, and from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Sunday. No appointment is necessary to receive help, and patrons will be assisted on a first-come, first-served basis.

“When people who have gone through the storm arrive at the DRC, they have several options: they can register for disaster assistance if they have not yet, check on the status of their application, and/or upload necessary documents to their application,” FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell remarked. “SBA (Small Business Administration) will be continued from page

there also if anyone needs to apply for a loan.”

According to Criswell, the purpose of these Disaster Relief Centers is to provide one-on-one help for Georgians affected by the hurricane. Currently, there are 6 total Centers set up in the state.

“People do not have to be from Toombs County to utilize the Toombs County DRC,” Criswell emphasized. “If you are a Georgian who went through the storm, you can utilize this center.”

For those who are unable to come to the Center during its available hours, Criswell suggests submitting a disaster relief application online at disasterassistance. gov, on the FEMA mobile app, or by calling 1 (800) 621-3362.
