Students in Mrs. Veal’s STEM classes at Wheeler County Middle School have been working on building Rube Goldberg machines.

A Rube Goldberg machine is a complex device that performs a simple task using a series of events that trigger one another. The term 'Rube Goldberg' is also used as an adjective to describe something that is done in a complicated way that is not necessary.

Students watched Rube Goldberg machines at work and then worked as a group to design and build their own machines. The machine had to contain at least ten steps. The students realized just how tedious this machine is and how each step had to be lined up perfectly in order for the task to be completed.
