Another Close Loss For RTCA
Robert Toombs Christian Academy hosted Fullington Academy last Friday night. RTCA took the early lead in the game but could not hold on to get the win. With the loss RTCA falls to 2-6 on the season and they are 0-3 in Region play.
RTCA did get on the board first. RTCA came up with a turnover, and then had a big run from Jayden Toole for 48 yards. That took RTCA deep into Trinity territory, and RTCA went on to take it in from nine yards out to put the first points on the board. They tacked on the extra point to lead the game, 7-0.
In the second quarter of the game, Trinity found the end zone for the first time and tied the game at 7-7. Trinity was moving the ball again later in the second, but a big interception from Toole stopped their drive as the first half was winding down.
In the third quarter of the game, Trinity took the lead with another touchdown, this one from 10-yard out with just over four minutes on the clock. They added the PAT for a 14-7 lead.
In the third, RTCA did get a big run for 42 yards down to the 10yard line, but they were not able to punch it in from there.
In the fourth quarter, RTCA had come back to tie the game up at 14-14. Later in the quarter, they came up with an interception at the Trinity 22yard line, but again the offense was stopped and they turned the ball over on downs.
RTCA was still tied with Trinity, but with about one minute left in the game, RTCA fumbled the ball with Trinity recovering it. Trinity then hit a big play all the way to the RTCA 3-yard line. Trinity took it in with 50 seconds left to play and took a 21-14 lead over RTCA.
RTCA couldn't not make anything happen in the final seconds of the game as they fell, 21-14.
This week RTCA will be on the road at Frederica Academy on St. Simons Island, with kickoff at 7:30 p.m. this Friday night.
