Community Honorees – Before the Toombs County vs. Vidalia rivalry game in The Pit last Friday night, the community came together to honor many of those that were at the forefront of our Hurricane Helene relief efforts. The Mayors of both Vidalia and Lyons (Doug Roper and Willis NeSmith), representatives from both Georgia Power and Altamaha EMC, the Toombs County Commissioners, Public Works, and State Senator Blake Tillery, and State House Representative Leesa Hagen. They were given game balls by members of both the Toombs County and Vidalia school administration. Although a rivalry game may briefly separate us on different sides of the field, let us not forget that we are much stronger as a community when we come together to work toward common goals.
