working with the band, as she lobbied for the experience to come to Vidalia. “Every year, on the way to the Georgia-Florida game, the band stops for an open practice at a school as a recruiting performance,” she explained. “I spoke to several of my connections with the UGA Redcoats and asked them to come here, and luckily, they agreed.”

Taylor added that the performance also has added excitement, as Vidalia High School graduates Bailey Hutchins, Antonio Aguilar, and Walker McCord are all members of the UGA band, along with Toombs County High School graduate Jamison Gates.

The performance will also bring over 1,000 students from several local schools and those as far as McIntosh County Academy to Vidalia, as 21 institutions give their students the chance to witness the band. “It’s open to the public for anyone who wants to see the band – not just students,” Taylor clarified.

The band is scheduled to begin playing at 10 a.m. on Friday, and is expected to complete their practice around 11:15 a.m. No prior registration is required to attend the event, and visitors should come to the football field upon arrival.

“We have a great facility and an awesome turf field – it’s perfect for the band to use,” Taylor emphasized. “I cannot wait to hear them play in our stadium – I know it will be amazing.”
