The Eagles of Vidalia Heritage Academy hosted the Trojans of Fullington Academy in Mt. Vernon at Montgomery County High School’s field. It was a high scoring game with the Eagles coming out on the wrong side. It was also Homecoming for the Eagles, and they held their festivities during halftime of the game.

During halftime the Eagles crowned RJ Wells as Homecoming King, Jaley Owen as Homecoming Queen, Pearson O’Neal as the Homecoming Prince, and Rilyn Rodgers as Homecoming Princess In the first quarter of the game, the Trojans got on the board first off an interception that was returned for a touchdown with just over seven minutes remaining in the quarter. They added the twopoint conversion to take an 8-0 lead. The Eagles answered on a touchdown pass from Jake Adams to Dylan Green. They were unsuccessful on the two-point try as the Trojans held on to an 8-6 lead.

It didn’t take long for the Trojans to score as they took the ensuing kickoff and returned it for a touchdown. They added the two-point conversion to take a 16-6 lead over the Eagles.

Just a couple of minutes into the second quarter of the game, VHA found the end zone again as Trevor White broke a run for the score. VHA added the two-point conversion on a pass from Adams to Wayne Richardson to close the lead to 16-14.

The Trojans added another score with six minutes to play in the first half on a passing play. With the two-point conversion, they led 24-14 over the Eagles.

VHA was not backing down as just two minutes later they connected on a pass from Adams to White. They did not get the extra points, but were not down, 24-20.

But the Trojans added two more touchdowns before the end of the first half as they increased their lead to 38-20 by the end of the half.

VHA held the Trojans on their first drive of the second half, but Fullington added safety and then scored another touchdown later in the third quarter. That gave them a 48-20 lead with three minutes left in the third. In the fourth quarter with nine minutes left in the game, the Trojans scored one more time to give them a 56-20 lead over the Eagles.

VHA scored two more times in the fourth quarter on a pass from Adams to Pearson O’Neal, and a pass from Adams to Carson Morales. That made the final score 56-34.

The Eagles are now 4-3 on the season and they are 3-3 in Region action. This week they will host Westwood Academy back over in Mt. Vernon on Friday night at 7:30 p.m.
