Lyons Announces Grant Opportunity
KINDERGARTEN FIELD TRIP — Mrs. Lowery, Mrs. Wright and Mrs. Hancock’s Kindergarten class at Wheeler County Elementary School recently went on a field trip to Green Acres Farm. Students were able to see and feed a variety of animals such as chickens, turkeys, goats, and pigs. They enjoyed a ride through the Pumpkin Patch on the wagon and learning about the life cycle of a pumpkin. Left: Lydia Phillips, Jasmine Jones, and Gracelyn Cravey riding the wagon; Right: Kaison McLamb feeding the pigs.

Lyons Main Street has announced a new grant opportunity for downtown business owners, which will provide up to $1,500 to approved applicants.

The new BOOST Grant is a reformed version of the former Façade Grant, which helped business owners to improve the street appeal of their buildings. Now, the BOOST Grant may also help with interior renovations along with exterior upgrades, along with inventory/supplies, business equipment, marketing/advertising, security systems, and professional services.

Commercial businesses and property owners in downtown Lyons and along U.S. Highway 1, Georgia Highway 280, and Georgia Highway 292 within the city limits of Lyons can apply for a grant of up to $1500. These grants will require the applicants to match the grant, investing the same amount of money as received into the project.

For more information, contact Lyons Main Street at (912) 526-6445 or by email at lyonsmainstreet@gmail.com. Applications may be submitted online on the Lyons Main Street website.
