VIDALIA LIONS CLUB GROWING -- The Vidalia Lions Club has grown significantly over the past two months, as Vidalia Lions Club President has sworn in four new members. Lions Clubs International is an international service organization that began in 1917 and has over 46,000 local clubs and 1.4 million members in over 200 countries worldwide. The Lions Club motto is “We Serve” and focuses on assisting the blind and vision impaired individuals worldwide through a variety of service projects. It’s the spookiest time of the year, and everyone has the same thing on their mind: trick or treating! Though the debris from Hurricane Helene may have put a damper on door-to-door neighborhood trick-or-treating, municipalities throughout the area are working to make sure that everyone has a fun and safe holiday.

Communities throughout Montgomery, Toombs, Treutlen, and Wheeler Counties have advised families to avoid sending their trickor- treaters through neighborhoods, as the amount of debris remaining from the recent hurricane has caused the normal routes to become own Trunk-Or-Treat from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the church’s location on 126 E. Wesley Avenue on October 31.

Memorial Health Meadows Physicians will host a Trunk-Or-Treat at the Lucy Pierson Building, located at 1707 Meadows Lane, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. on October 31.

The City of Santa Claus will have a Trick-or-Treat event at the city park on Dancer Street from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on October 31.

Treutlen County

The city of Soperton will host a trick-or-treat event from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Jean Gillis Memorial Park on October 31. Children are encouraged to wear costumes, and food, games, bounce houses, and more will be available for the public to enjoy.

Wheeler County

The City of Alamo will host trick-or-treating at the Alamo Walking Track from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on October 31.

All trick-or-treaters are encouraged to attend these events in lieu of traveling door-to-door.

Toombs County

The Downtown Vidalia Association will host its annual Downtown Spooktacular from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. on October 31. The City of Lyons will host a Trunk-or-Treat event at the Toombs County Courthouse, located at 100 Courthouse Square in Lyons, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on October 31.
