“This program gives us a chance to celebrate our veterans and to teach our students about Veterans Day,” Vidalia High School Band Director Elizabeth Taylor explained. “We will honor all branches of the military during our program, and would love for the public to attend.”

Shortly after this program, the Downtown Vidalia Association will host their annual Veterans Day Luncheon at 11 a.m. at the Vidalia Community Center. Veterans and their families are encouraged to come to the event to enjoy a meal and have a chance at winning several door prizes donated by local businesses.

“Our veterans have selflessly sacrificed their time and lives to protecting our freedoms – it is so important that we thank them and show our gratitude. This event lets us do that every year, and reminds us of the cost of freedom,” Downtown Vidalia Association Executive Director Tonya Parker emphasized.

She continued, saying that the DVA sets up “America’s White Table” at the front of the room for every Veterans Day Luncheon to remember veterans who have passed on, remain captured, or are missing. “It is an empty table with a place set for someone to eat. It really gives a visual image to the sacrifice that these men and women have made during their service,” Parker shared.

During the luncheon, One Voice Trio will provide entertainment throughout the lunch, as attendees enjoy a meal and fellowship. For more information, call (912) 537-8033.
