Though designed to be a time of gratitude, the Thanksgiving holiday can bring stress for some families, as people worry about finding the food or money to cook or buy the holiday feast. One local cancer center nurse is working to ease that stress for her patients this holiday season, as she collects Thanksgiving feast ingredients to give to each family.

Low Country Cancer Care Nurse Navigator Cierra Rollins has spent the last 6 years making sure that her patients were able to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday, even in the midst of sickness. Every year, Rollins partners with the community to collect ingredients for thanksgiving feasts, which she divides among her patients and their families.

“Our community always comes through and makes this the biggest blessing for our patients,” she remarked. “We are so appreciative of any donations for our patients! We love them like family and love to lessen their burdens.”

Currently, Rollins is collecting the ingredients to staples to a Thanksgiving meal – including, but not limited to, meat (turkey, ham, etc.), breads, canned vegetables, stuffing mix, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, yams, desserts, and any other items that you enjoy at your own Thanksgiving feast.

These donations may be dropped off at the Cancer Center, located at 1 Meadows Parkway in Vidalia. For more information regarding these donations, call Rollins at (912) 2465828.
