Rough Start For Wheeler
The Wheeler County High School Bulldogs basketball teams kicked off their season with games against Bacon County and Dublin last week. Both the boys and the girls dropped their games as they both started the season 0-2.
Girls vs. Bacon
Both teams got off to a slow start as the game was tied 7-7 at the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Lady Raiders of Bacon pulled away as they outscored Wheeler 12-2. That made the score heading to halftime, 19-9.
In the third quarter, Wheeler kept pace with Bacon, but heading to the fourth, the Raiders were on top, 28-19. Bacon increased their lead in the fourth on the way to a 45-19 win over the Lady Bulldogs.
Nikita James led Wheeler with 15 points.
Boys vs. Bacon
In the boys game, the Bulldogs also lost to the Raiders. Bacon took the win over Wheeler, 57-41.
Girls vs. Dublin
James had a big game for the Lady Bulldogs as she scored 34 points, but it was not quite enough as Wheeler lost by just two. Dublin took the win over Wheeler 50-48.
Boys vs. Dublin
In the boys game, the Fighting Irish were too much for Wheeler as they took the win, 90-56.
Wheeler will take a break and does not have its next games scheduled until December 6.
