Heart of Georgia Community Action Council Heating Assistance Available
The Heart of Georgia Community Action Council has announced that applications are being taken for heating assistance in the following counties in Treutlen, Montgomery, and Wheeler counties beginning December 2.
Eligible households are those where all members are 65 years of age or older (or homebound households) which may contact the agency for an appointment beginning the week of December 2, until all appointments have been filled.
All other income eligible households may contact the agency to schedule an appointment on January 2, starting at 4 p.m. until all appointments have been filled.

Appointments are made by calling in or on line only; no walk-ins. To be eligible for assistance, households must have an income at or below the state median income level which amounts to: $33,038, 1-person household $43,203, 2-person household $53,369, 3-person household $63,535, 4-person household $73,700, 5-person household $83,866, 6-person household $85,772, 7-person household $87,678, 8-person household A minimum of the following items will be required to verify eligibility for assistance: Verication of all household income for every person living in the home for the past 30 days.
ID Driver's Li cense for everyone over the age of 18 in household.
(Names on ID and Social Security card must match).
Documentation of a birth certificate or marriage license may be required to show the name difference.
Applicants are required to bring all documentation with them because the agency cannot obtain this information.
Recent heating bill with the service address and account number printed on it.
Recent electric bill with the service address and account number printed on it.
