Vidalia Onion Festival Committee Chairman Brad Owens gave an update on the 2025 Vidalia Onion Festival during the November 11 meeting of the Vidalia City Council.
During his update, Owens informed the council that two performers had officially been scheduled for the Saturday night concert, which will be held at the Vidalia Regional Airport. “We do know that Friday and Saturday [of the festival] will be at the airport – that is confirmed at this point because of the entertainment that we are having,” he explained. “We will be having Will Moseley and Clint Black on Saturday night, and they required a larger stage, which made it impossible to hold the concerts at Ronnie A. Dixon City Park.”
Owens said the committee had not decided on the lineup for the Friday night concert during the festival, as scheduling acts had been difficult because of the famous Stagecoach country music festival held the same weekend as the Vidalia Onion Festival on the west coast. “We may look at alternative acts outside of country music,” he added.
The chairman also shared that an artist was currently working to design the 2025 Vidalia Onion Festival t-shirt design, so that the committee can begin selling them in early 2025. He also told the council that during the Hurricane Helene disaster, the committee had been able to donate several boxes of 2024 Vidalia Onion Festival shirts to hurricane victims in North Carolina. “I was so glad we were able to do that,” he said.
According to Owens, there are a few new sanctioned events that could possibly join the festivities, such as a golf and bowling tournament. He also said that several committee members are working to get a cooking class to return to the festival.
The Vidalia Onion Festival Committee currently meets monthly to continue to help plan the festival. More information and details will be shared as decisions are made each month.
