This week will continue to be a holly and jolly time in Toombs County, as several Christmas events continue to celebrate the season.
Toombs County Schools will offer a unique Christmas shopping experience for the public at their Mistletoe on Main Market at the Toombs County Ag Center on Thursday, December 5. This market will feature food trucks, local vendors, and items made by children with special needs. The market is open to everyone and will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.
Franklinia Playhouse will entertain audiences with their performances of “Frosty the Snowman” on Thursday, December 5, and Friday, December 6, at Southeastern Technical College in Vidalia. Each show will begin at 7 p.m. The show on December 5 will serve as Pajama Night, as attendees are encouraged to wear their favorite Christmas pajamas. Tickets may be purchased at the door or online at the Franklinia Playhouse website.
Lyons will kick off their Christmas celebration on Friday, December 6, with their Christmas Village Market, which will feature food trucks and vendors from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. in the downtown area of the city. Santa Claus will be available for photos and visits with children at the city’s gazebo from 4:00 p.m. until 5:30 p.m.
The Lyons Lighted Christmas Parade will hit the streets at 6 p.m. on December 6, as the floats showcase their best “Merry and Bright” themed decorations. A quiet zone – an area where music and sounds will be decreased so that those with sensory issues may enjoy the parade – will be held between S. Gwinnett St. and S. Jefferson St.
The Vidalia Christmas Parade will entertain audiences for miles on Saturday, December 7. The parade will begin at 11 a.m. and is themed to showcase “Christmas Through The Decades.” This parade will also have a quiet zone between Church and Jackson Streets.
The Cedar Crossing Christmas Parade will light up the street with sweet decorations at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, December 9, with the city’s Hard Candy Christmas Parade.
People from all counties and cities are welcomed to enjoy these festivities.
