Vidalia High School's Game Day Cheerleadering team is gearing up to compete in the GHSA State Competition this Thursday, December 5, at the Columbus Civic Center in Columbus, GA. The 2024 competition will be the largest in the event’s history since its inception, reflecting the growing interest and popularity of Game Day across Georgia. For the first time, each division will compete independently, making the stakes even higher for the Indians as they battle to stand out in the highly competitive A Division.
The Indians are no strangers to success, having won the A/AA State Champion- ship title for the past three years. Despite less time to prepare due to GHSA shortening the season, Vidalia has been hard at work perfecting their routine to represent the spirit and tradition of excellence that has carried them to success year after year.
Game Day competition is designed to showcase a team’s ability to lead a crowd in game day situations, such as football or basketball games. Teams perform a series that includes a band dance, situational chant, cheer, and the team’s fight song. In the 1A Division, 23 teams will compete in the Preliminary Round, with Vidalia performing 12th in the lineup. The top 12 teams will advance to the Finals Round.
