Wheeler Boys Over Bacon
The Wheeler County High School Bulldog basketball teams faced off with Bacon County last week at home. Bacon got the win in the girls' game, but the Wheeler boys came through and held off the Raiders for a one-point win.
Girls vs. Bacon
In the girls' game, the Lady Raiders did a good job of holding Nikita James on defense. James only scored 10 points for Wheeler, which hurt the Lady Bulldogs. CayMira Parker added 8 points for Wheeler, but Bacon rolled to a 52-33 win.
Boys vs. Bacon
In the boys' game, Bacon jumped out to a 27-16 lead in the first quarter, and things were not looking good for the Bulldogs. But Wheeler turned it around in the second as they closed the lead to 39-38 heading into halftime as they outscored Bacon 22-12 in the second.
In the third quarter, the Bulldogs took the lead and were on top, 5452, heading to the fourth quarter. In the fourth, Wheeler held off the Raiders to take the win, 67- 66.
The Bulldogs were led by Michael Wright Jr. with 22 points, Tyree Travis added 16, and Quenshawn Glasper posted 14 in the win.
This week the Bulldogs were at Jeff Davis on Tuesday after presstime. They will be back in action on Saturday with the Vikings of Treutlen coming to Alamo at 3:00 p.m.
