Bulldogs Split With Telfair
The Toombs County High School basketball teams took on Telfair County last week on Saturday at home. TCHS struggled in the girls' game, but came back with a win in a low-scoring boys' game.
Girls vs. Telfair
In the girls' game, the Lady Trojans of Telfair jumped out to a 16-6 lead by thend of the first quarter. In the second, both teams had scoring issues. At halftime, Telfair held onto their lead, 18-10.
Coming out in the third, the Trojans pulled away as they outscored TCHS, 17-1. That put Telfair on top, 35-11. Telfair went on to win the game, 50-20.
Boys vs. Telfair
In the boys' game against the Trojans, Toombs pulled out a close win as they held them off in the fourth quarter.
Telfair had the lead early in the game as they were up 10-7 at the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Bulldogs went on a run as they outscored Telfiar, 14-4, to take a halftime lead at 21-14.
In the third quarter, TCHS extended their lead to 31-21. In the fourth quarter, the Trojans made a run as they outscored Toombs 16-9. Toombs did just enough to hold them off and pick up the win, 40-37.
TCHS was led by Parker Stanley with 14 points.
This week Toombs will host Savannah Christian on Thursday at 6:00 p.m., and then they will host Bacon County on Friday at 6:00 p.m.
