Gardens of Hope Recovery Community Organization (RCO) has received a $1,000 façade grant from the Lyons Main Street Association to help in the revitalization of the organization’s new clubhouse.

The group is working to restore the historic Lyons Women’s Club House, which is currently registered in the National Registry of Historic Places. The building was crafted in honor of Confederate soldiers after the local United Daughters of the Confederacy donated the land for the structure to be built upon. It served for many years as the headquarters of the Lyons Women’s Club, which was established in 1928, but has remained vacant for several years.

The Lyons Main Street Association presented Gardens of Hope with the grant in hopes that the building may continue to be restored so that it may soon house the growing organization.
