Solid Week For Wheeler
It was a good week the the Bulldogs basketball teams of Wheeler County High School as the Lady Bulldogs split their games and the boys won both of theirs. The Bulldogs faced off with Jeff Davis on Tuesday and then hosted rival Treutlen on Saturday.
Girls vs. JD The only loss on the week for Wheeler came in the girls' game against Jeff Davis. Jeff Davis jumped out to a 16-7 lead in the first quarter, and were on top, 25-13, at halftime. In the third quarter, the Yellow Jackets pushed the lead to 38-20, and JD went on to win the game, 42-23.
Boys vs. JD
Wheeler held off a second half run to take a onepoint win over Jeff Davis. Wheeler was on top 14-12 at the end of the first period, and pushed that lead to 28-22 by the end of the first half.
In the second half, the Jackets made a run to close the lead to 44-43 heading to the fourth. In the fourth, Wheeler kept pace with the Jackets in the fourth quarter to take the win, 62-61.
Wheeler was led by Tyree Travis with 21 points, Quenshawn Glasper added 14 points, with Justin Culver and Michael Wright each scoring 10 in the win.
Girls vs. Treutlen
On Saturday, Wheeler won both games over rival Treutlen. In the girls' game, Wheeler jumped out to a 17-11 lead in the first, but the Lady Vikings came back in the second to make the halftime score, 29-29.

score remained tied, 4040, but in the fourth, the Lady Bulldogs pulled away to take the win, 5848.
Wheeler was led by Nikita James with 28 points, with Justise Dubose and Shiann Carey each scoring 10 points in the win.
Boys vs. Treutlen
In the boys’ game, both teams had their struggles in the second half on offense, but Wheeler capitalized the most as they came out on top. Wheeler held a 2419 lead at the end of the first quarter, and they extended that lead in the second to take a 38-31 lead into halftime.
But in the third quarter, the Vikings came out and stormed back to take the lead. Treutlen was on top 51-45 heading into the fourth quarter. But things took a drastic turn in the fourth as Wheeler was the team with the hot hand. Wheeler outscored Treutlen 20-9 in the fourth on the way to a 65-60 win.
Wheeler had four players in double figures with Michael Wright leading the way with 23 points. Tyree Travis and Justin Culver each scored 12 points, and Quenshawn Glasper added 10 points in the win.
This week the Bulldogs will be at Bryan County on Friday at 5:30 p.m., and then on Saturday they will travel to Turner County at 6:00 p. m.
