TCHS Wrestlers In Dalton

The Toombs County High School wrestling team are hunting down the best competition from around the southeast this season. Last week, their hunt took them to Dalton, GA, to the Dalton Carpet Classic. This tournament included two of the top 10, 2A teams and three of the top 10, 3A teams across the state. In addition to the top talents in Georgia, the powerhouse Tennessee private school, McCallie School, and powerhouse program and #3 ranked team in Alabama, Thompson Hugh School, were in attendance.

The tournament ended with the MatDawgs topping all Georgia teams, but falling short to both out-of-state programs. The team was led by first place finishes for Wyatt Bunch at 132lbs., and Lucas Coley at 175lbs., At 106lbs.,, 3rd Place went to Lukas Young, and 4th Place was Jericho Latoy. At 120lbs., 3rd Place went to Walker Bunch and 7th Place was Jahir Lopez. At 132lbs., 1st Place went to Wyatt Bunch. At 138lbs., 4th Place was Dylan Vetter. And at 144lbs., 4th Place was Ethan Story, and 5th Place went to Robert Agzigian.

At 150lbs., 5th Place went to Slade Landrum. At 157lbs., 3rd Place was Tyson Brantley, and 7th Place went to Jorge Herrera. At 165lbs., 8th Place was Sebastian Crow. At 175lbs., 1st Place went to Lucas Coley, and at 190lbs., 3rd Place went to Leeson Allen.
