Toombs County 4-H Earns Honors at Southeast District Project Achievement

Toombs County 4-H recently hosted the 2024 Fall Cloverleaf Southeast District Project Achievement. Over 200 4-H members in the 4th – 6th grades from ten Southeast District counties attended the event. Thirty-four members from Toombs County 4-H participated in the contest. Earning Toombs County 2nd place in Highest Number of Participants.
According to Riley Wimberly, Toombs County 4-H Agent, “District Project Achievement or DPA, offers youth their first experience in public speaking. To compete, members select a project area and narrow their interest to a specific topic. Members then prepare and give a 4 – 6-minute demonstration about their topic.”

Fourteen students from Lyons Upper Elementary School participated in DPA. 1st place winners were Bella Baylor (Food Safety & Preservation), Will Hester (Freshwater Fish & Shellfish), Jaxon Stanfield (Historic Places & Events), and Jordan Stanfield (Paleontology). 2nd place winners included Peyton Mc-Clain (Current People), Treasure Clark (Flowers, Shrubs, & Lawn), Ramsey Crow (Safety), and Charles Johnson (Sports-Team). Cayden Branham (Historic Places & Events) and Kayden Williams (Horse) won 3rd place. Receiving 4th place in the competition were Reagann Sims (General Recreation), Jayci Wheeler (Horse), Lorielle Ford (Sports-Individual) and Jai Pfifer (Sports-Team).
Robert Toombs Christian Academy had two participants. Easton Moore (Sports- Team) and Lana Kate Sellers (Marine & Coastal Ecology) both earned 1st place.
Sally Meadows Elementary School had three participants. Earning 2nd place was Messiah Johnson (General Science). Treasure Bagley (Sports-Individual) and Kade Swancey (Sports-Team) both placed 4th!
Toombs County Middle School had ten participants. 1st place winners included Athens Boney (Herpetology), Mati Fulmer (Marine & Coastal Ecology), Jude Coleman (Outdoor Recreation), Aria Mathews (Performing Arts- Vocal), and Eli Baylor (Robotics). 2nd place winners included E’Miya Bobbitt (General Recreation), Olivia Richter (Health), and Nevaeh Lawrence (Horse). Receiving 3rd place were Tynlee Wyatt (Marine & Coastal Ecology), and Landon Brewton (Sports-Team).
Toombs Central Elementary School had five participants. Marissa Harnage (Performing Arts-Vocal), Edie Rae Whitaker (Sheep & Meat Goats), and Liam Patel (Sports) placed 1st . Jayden Guerrero (Agricultural Awareness) and Preslie Mosley (Historic Places & Events) placed 2nd.
The event was a huge success thanks to a host of volunteers and teen leaders who assisted with the event. The Toombs County 4-H program which is under the direction of 4-H Agent Riley Wimberly, 4-H AmeriCorps Member Carol Hester, and Toombs County Agriculture Agent Jason Edenfield also co-coordinated the event.
