Treutlen Falls To Wheeler
The Treutlen County High School Viking basketball teams took on Wheeler County last week on Saturday at home. It was a tough day for the Vikings as they dropped both games to the Bulldogs.
Girls vs. Wheeler
In the girls’ game, the Lady Bulldogs got out to a 17-11 lead by the end of the first quarter. Treutlen came back in the second to tie the game at halftime at 29-29.
Treutlen kept pace with Wheeler in the third quarter as the game went to the fourth still tied at 40-40. But in the fourth, Wheeler went on a run as they pulled away to take the win 58-48.
Boys vs. Wheeler
In the boys’ game both teams had their struggles in the second half on offense, but Wheeler capitalized the most as they came out on top. Wheeler held a 24-19 lead at the end of the first quarter and they extended that lead in the second to take a 38-31 lead into halftime.
But in the third quarter, the Vikings came out and stormed back to take the lead. Treutlen was on top 51-45 heading into the fourth quarter. But things took a drastic turn in the fourth as Wheeler was the team with the hot hand. Wheeler outscored Treutlen 20-9 in the fourth on the way to a 65-60 win.
