Memorial Health Meadows Hospital proudly celebrated the exceptional contributions of its leaders, physicians, and community partners during this year’s Annual Holiday Celebration. In a year marked by challenges, these individuals and institutions exemplified extraordinary commitment to the care and improvement of human life, which remains the hospital’s guiding mission.
Leader of the Year
Heather Walter, BSN, RN, Director of the Cardiac Cath Lab and Sleep Center, was recognized for her exemplary leadership. Under her direction, the cardiac service line thrived, securing a $6.6 million capital investment for cath lab expansion. Heather also championed improvements in the Meadows Sleep Department, advocating for her team and successfully securing investments in upgraded beds and recliners.

Physician of the Year
Dr. Gilbert Gonzalez, a well-respected urologist at Memorial Health Meadows Physicians – Urology Care, was honored for his dedica- tion to the region. Known for drawing patients from Macon to Savannah, Dr.
Gonzalez often serves in urgent follow-up situations where care is scarce. His compassionate service and contributions to advancing urology care have garnered consistent praise from patients.

Community Pillar of the Year Southeastern Technical College (STC) was awarded the Community Pillar of the Year for its outstanding impact on education and the workforce. As one of the state’s top technical colleges, STC served over 148,000 students and achieved its highest-ever graduation rate, further supporting the region’s economic growth with $65.9 million in annual economic impact.
