It was a tough week for the Crusader basketball teams of Robert Toombs Christian Academy as the Lady Crusaders dropped both of their games, and the boys split theirs. RTCA took on Edmund Burke Academy on Friday and then hosted Frederica Academy on Saturday.

Girls vs. EBA

The Lady Crusaders kept it close against the Lady Spartans but could not pull out the win. RTCA battled, but fell to EBA, 55-50.

EBA was up 18-17 at the end of the first, and carried a 34-27 lead into halftime. The scoring slowed in the third quarter, but the Lady Spartans were up 43-35 heading to the fourth. They went on to defeat RTCA, 55-50.

RTCA was led by Amelia Mercer with 22 points and Meredith Durden added 16 in the loss.

Boys vs. EBA

The boys had better luck as they got the win over the Spartans. RTCA took the win, 62-53.

Girls vs. Frederica

Against Frederica the Lady Crusaders were outmatched. Frederica opened the game up on a run and were on top 22-7 at the end of the first quarter. RTCA did come back a bit in the second, but the Lady Crusaders were down 29-18 at halftime.

RTCA continued to close in during the third quarter and trailed 39-33 heading to the fourth. But in the fourth, the Frederica defense locked down RTCA and allowed them to score just two points. Frederica took the win, 5235.

Mercer led RTCA with 16 points.
