Bulldogs Win Over Telfair

The Bulldogs basketball teams of Wheeler County High School took on Hawkinsville and Telfair County last week with the boys picking up a win over Telfair. Girls vs. Hawkinsville

The Lady Red Devils pulled away early as they were on top, 13-4, at the end of the first quarter. But in the second, the Lady Bulldogs closed the lead to 18-14 heading to halftime.

In the second half, it was all Hawkinsville. They extended their lead to 36-24 by the end of the third quarter, and they took the win over Wheeler, 56-38. Wheeler was led by Nikita James with 13 points. Boys vs. Hawkinsville

It was a battle between the Bulldogs and the Devils with Hawkinsville pulling out a 1-point win. The Devils took the win over Wheeler, 47-46.

Girls vs. Telfair

Telfair opened the game up on a run and took a 16-9 lead by the end of the first quarter. In the second, the Lady Trojans extended their lead to 31-19.

Telfair continued to pull away in the third quarter, and held a 46-26 lead heading to the fourth. Telfair took the win over the Lady Bulldogs, 64- 35.

Wheeler was led by James with 16 points.

Boys vs. Telfair

It was a slow start for both teams with the score tied at 7-7 at the end of the first quarter. In the second, Wheeler took the lead and were on top, 1914 at the end of the first half.

In the third quarter, the Bulldogs extended their lead to 36-26, and they went on to win the game, 54-37.

This week Wheeler hosted Wilcox County on Tuesday after presstime. They will be back in action on Friday at home against Montgomery County at 6:00 p.m., and then on Saturday they will be at Dooly County at 3:00 p.m.
