The Vidalia High School Indians basketball teams took on Swainsboro last week on Saturday. The Indians won both games over the Tigers as they continued to improve their Region records.

Girls

The Lady Tigers had the lead early in this game, and were up 14-11 at the end of the first quarter. VHS came back in the second as they held the Tigers to just five points, giving the Lady Indians a 20-19 lead going into halftime.

In the third quarter, VHS continued to extend their lead, taking a 32-27 lead into the final quarter. VHS pulled away to a 49-40 win over Swainsboro.

The Lady Indians are now 14-6 overall, and they are 8-0 in Region action.

Boys In a hard-fought Region matchup, the Vidalia Indians triumphed over Swainsboro, with a 62-51 victory. This win boosts the Indians to 6-1 in Region play and 15-5 overall. It was a true team effort, with three players reaching double figures: Jayon Coleman, Rashad Brown, and Brycen Burns.

The Indians also got key contributions from their bench, with Kashun Coney, Bernard Brewton, and Denarius Atkins all stepping up and making a significant impact.

Against the Tigers, Vidalia jumped out to a 22-14 lead in the first quarter of the game. They added to that in the second to take a 37-24 lead into halftime.

In the third quarter, Swainsboro did cut a little into the lead, but the Indians still led, 47-38, heading to the fourth. VHS held on to take the win over the Tigers, 62-51.

This week VHS was at Savannah Christian on Tuesday after presstime. The only other game scheduled for the week for VHS is for the Lady Indians as they are supposed to host St. Vincent's on Friday at 6:00 p.m.
