TCHS Hosts Sweet Onion
Toombs County High School hosted the Sweet Onion Invitational Wrestling Tournament last week with 17 teams in attendance. Toombs had some tough draws in the event, but they still had several wrestlers place in their weight class. As a team Toombs took sixth place in the tournament.
Varsity
For the TCHS varsity, Lukas Young took first place at 106lbs. with a dominant performance, winning all five of his matches by pin. He won his Championship match over Robert Komanecky of Bacon County.
Walker Bunch also took first place at 120lbs. He won three matches in a row by technical fall with the Championship coming over Hunter McCleskey of Jones County.
Slade Landrum took fourth place at 157lbs. winning two matches by pin and one by technical fall. Leeson Allen took fifth place at 175lbs. with three wins by pin. Ethan Story took sixth place at 144lbs. with two wins coming by pin, and JJ Pacheco was sixth at 285lbs. with two wins coming by pin.
Girls
For the TCHS girls, Jasmine Villages brought home the title at 110lbs. She took her first match by technical fall, won her second by pin, and then took the Championship by technical fall in a 20-0 dominate performance. Alexa Acosta also placed for the TCHS girls as she earned sixth place at 125lbs.
JV
For the JV squad, Jesse McCoy came in first place at 106lbs. Christian Perez finished second at 285lbs. Clayton Williams was third at 120-126lbs., and Hayden Ford was third at 138lbs. Jacob Mares finished fourth at 215lbs., Jesse Scott was fifth at 175lbs., and Kaleb Paterson was sixth at 144lbs.
The Bulldogs will now get ready for Region and State Individual Tournaments.
