It was a slower week for the Vidalia High School Indians basketball teams as they took on Savannah Christian, and the girls also had a game against St. Vincent's. The Indians won all three of those games as they look to win the regular season Region titles. The Lady Indians are now 16-6 on the year, and they are 10-0 in Region play, while the boys are 16-5 overall and are 7-1 in the Region.

Girls vs. Savannah

The Lady Indians started the game behind the sticks with a rough first quarter as they fell behind 11-3. But from there on out, it was all VHS as the defense didn't allow a single point in the second or third quarters, while the offense went on a 38-0 run.

By the end of the first half, the Indians had taken a 26-11 lead, and they extended that to 41-11 by the end of the third quarter. VHS went on to win the game 48-26 over Savannah.

VHS was led by Hannah Nichols with 11 points, Tori Polke posted 10, and Kamey Monroe added 9 in the win.

Boys vs. Savannah

The Vidalia Indians battled through a tough road game at Savannah Christian on Tuesday night, ultimately pulling out a 62-55 victory. Despite a strong start from the host team, the Indians found their rhythm in the second half, powered by standout performances from Jayon Coleman and Rashad Brown.

as he scored 22 of those points in the second half, propelling Vidalia to a crucial win.

Rashad Brown also had an impressive outing, contributing 17 points, with the highlight being his flawless 8-for-8 performance from the freethrow line in the fourth quarter. Brown’s composure at the charity stripe was vital in sealing the game for Vidalia in the final minutes.

Brycen Burns also played a key role, knocking down four threepointers to help stretch the lead. His shooting from beyond the arc kept Savannah Christian on their heels throughout the game.

VHS was down 13-12 at the end of the first quarter of the game, and in the second, Savannah increased their lead to 2821.

In the third, the Indians started to turn things around, and the score was 46-40, with VHS still trailing heading to the fourth. In the fourth, the Indians went on a run as they outscored the Raiders 22-9, to pull out the

victory, 62-55.

Girls vs. St. Vincent's

The Lady Indians hosted the Saints on Friday night and rolled to a big Region win. The game was close in the first quarter with VHS holding a 14-13 advantage. But in the second, the Indians pulled away as they outscored the Saints, 23-7. That gave VHS a 36-21 lead at halftime. In the second half, VHS continued to extend their lead, and were on top, 55-29, heading to the fourth. The Indians took the win, 70-44.

VHS was led by Nichols with 16 points, Jordyn Goings added 15, and Polke scored 12 in the win.

This is the final week of the regular season. On Monday of this week after presstime, the Indians hosted Savannah Country Day in a big Region matchup. They then hosted a nonregion series with Tattnall County on Tuesday. They will play their finals games of the season in a Region matchup on Friday at home against the Wolverines of Woodville-Tompkins.
