Barons Sweep Shawnee State

The Brewton-Parker College Barons baseball team started their home stand with a thrilling 8-4 victory over the Shawnee State Bears on Friday of last week, and on Saturday they took both games of a double header.
Friday
The Barons' bats were on fire throughout the game. Jeremi Lara and Marquette Gibson led the charge by hitting key home runs to help boost the Barons to victory. Adding a two-run homer in the 7th inning, Lara totaled 3 RBIs, while Gibson contributed 2 RBIs along with multiple run scores. The starting pitcher for the Barons, Brandon Russell, along with relievers who maintained the lead, were fundamental in curbing the Bears' advances. The Barons managed to take long at-bats, forcing the Bears to throw multiple arms in game one of the threegame stand.
Highlighting the game, Barons' coach Aaron Larsen expressed satisfaction with the team's performance, stating, 'Always good to start off with a win at home. Proud of our guys and how they played tonight. Jeremi came in clutch for us in the 7th with that two-run bomb to give us the lead. Shaun did a great job coming in for us and getting the win on the bump, along with Carlos closing things out in the 9th.'
