The Brewton-Parker College Barons basketball team split their games with Point University and Thomas University last week. vs. Point

In an exhilarating SSAC Game of the Week, the Brewton-Parker Barons bagged another win against the Point University Skyhawks at the West Point Gym on February 6, 2025. The game, which extended into overtime, ended with a thrilling overtime win for the Barons, ending 92-88.

In a closely contested battle, Brewton-Parker led by just two points at halftime, 41-39. However, the tension was palpable as both teams fought hard, driving the game into overtime, where Brewton-Parker ultimately secured the win. Key players for Brewton-Parker included Dre Burroughs and Tommy J Tisdale III, both contributing significantly with 24 points each. Their dominant scoring helped propel the Barons to victory.

The team saw significant contributions from Sam Faraday-Bensley, who put up 9 points alongside his defensive stats, Ferlin Joseph Jr., and Grant Sanders, who rounded out a solid team performance with 19 points and multiple contributions across the board. The Barons' ability to step up in crucial moments was evident, echoing the overtime finish itself.

The Barons' game against Point University was a nail-biter and a memorable win. In a hard-fought Southern States Athletic Conference game on February 8, 2025, the Brewton- Parker Barons suffered defeat at the hands of the Thomas Night Hawks at their home court in Mount Vernon. Despite a tightly contested first half, the final score read 89-77 in favor of Thomas.

The game began competitively, with both teams exchanging the lead several times. Only two points separated the teams by halftime, with the Night Hawks slightly ahead, 42-40. However, the tide turned significantly in the second half as Thomas expanded their lead and ultimately secured the win.

Grant Sanders led the scoring for the Barons with an impressive 34 points, along with 11 rebounds and three steals. Tommy J Tisdale III contributed 14 points and four steals, while Dre Burroughs added 11 points and five rebounds. Despite the offensive performances, the Barons were unable to contain the Night Hawks entirely.

Looking ahead, the Barons will face Blue Mountain on February 13, 2025, attempting to improve their current season record of 7 wins and 17 losses. The game is scheduled in Blue Mountain, Mississippi, offering another challenging test for the team as they strive to turn their season around.
