It was a busy week for the Toombs County High School basketball teams last week as the girls played 5 games and the boys played 4. It was also the final week of the regular season. The Lady Bulldogs finished the season with a record of 6-16, and they were 4-8 in Region play. The boys finished up 1211 on the year and were 4-6 in the Region.
Girls vs. Sav. Christian The Lady Bulldogs picked up the win on Monday night in Savannah over the Lady Raiders. It was a tough game, but Toombs came out on top, 54-41.
Arianna Hill led TCHS with 20 points, Brinley Miller added 11, and Taylor Bland posted 9 in the win.
Boys vs. Sav. Christian
Monday night was a tough one for the Toombs County Bulldogs, as they traveled to take on Savannah Christian in a down-to-the-wire Region matchup. The game was tied at 9-9 at the end of the first quarter, and by halftime Savannah had taken a 17-15 lead over the Bulldogs.

extended their lead to 3023 over Toombs. But the Bulldogs fought back and took the lead with just one minute remaining. However, Savannah Christian responded with a clutch three-pointer with 17.9 seconds left to reclaim the lead. A late turnover sealed the game, and the Bulldogs fell 4241 in a heartbreaking finish.
Toombs was led by Gavin Fletcher with 22 points with Parker Stanley adding 9 in the loss.
Girls vs. St. Vincent's
The girls were at the Saints on Tuesday night. Toombs gave it their all but could not keep the offense going as they were defeated by St. Vincent's, 45- 36.
Toombs was led by Hill with 11 points, Makayla Brewton added 9, and Miller scored 8 in the loss. Girls vs. Montgomery
On Thursday in Mt. Vernon, the Lady Bulldogs rolled to a win over the Lady Eagles of Montgomery County. Toombs pulled away early and cruised to a 62-40 win over Montgomery.
Miller led the Bulldogs with 18 points, Hill added 12, and Bland scored 11 in the win. Boys vs. Montgomery
The Bulldogs ran away with the win over the Eagles. Toombs jumped out to a 19-9 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. They were on top 41-22 by the end of the first half, and in the third quarter, TCHS extended that lead to 63-31.
Toombs went on to win the game, 72-37.
TCHS was led by Stanley with 13 points, Mike Polke added 11, Fletcher scored 10, Tucker Braddy added 9, and Cornelius Bullard and Amari Eason each posted 8 in the win.
Girls vs. Tattnall
The Lady Warriors of Tattnall County got the win over the Lady Bulldogs on Friday night at home in Lyons. Toombs kept themselves in the game, but Tattnall was too much as they won the game, 48-38.
Toombs was led by Hill with 20 points with Bland adding 8 in the loss.
Boys vs. Tattnall
The game was tied at 9-9 at the end of the first, but in the second, Tattnall took the lead, and never gave it back. At halftime, the Warriors were on top, 25- 21.
In the third, Tattnall pulled away as the Bulldogs offense could not get a shot to fall. Heading to the fourth, the Bulldogs were trailing 38-27, and Tattnall took the win, 48- 39.
Toombs had three players with 11 points in the game, Polke, Stanley, and Bullard.
Girls vs. Country Day
Toombs was back in Savannah on Saturday to wrap up the regular season as they played Savannah Country Day. The Lady Bulldogs had a tough time with the Lady Hornets as they fell behind early and could never recover.
Savannah went on to win the game over the Lady Bulldogs, 56-28.
Toombs was led by Hill with 14 points and Brewton added 8 in the loss.
Boys vs. Country Day
Toombs took a slim lead in the first quarter of the game at 14-12, but in the second, they opened the game up as they outscored the Hornets, 23-8. That put Toombs on top, 37-20 at halftime.
At the end of the third, Toombs was on top 50-35, and they went on to win the game, 68-46.
Toombs was led by Fletcher with 30 points, Stanley added 13, and Polke posted 9 in the win.
This week is the Region 3A-D1 Tournament. Boys teams played their first game of the Region Tournament on Tuesday after presstime. The Lady Bulldogs were at Swainsboro to take on the Lady Tigers. The boys also played the Tigers of Swainsboro, but their game was at Savannah Country Day. If they win those games, they will move on in the tournament.
