The Brewton-Parker College Lady Barons basketball team faced off with Point University and Thomas Unitverity last week. vs. Point
In an exhilarating SSAC conference basketball showdown on February 6, 2025, the Brewton-Parker College Lady Barons overcame the Point University Skyhawks with a dramatic fourthquarter rally to clinch a 57-46 victory at the West Point Gym. The hardfought triumph elevates the Lady Barons' season record to 12-10 overall and 8-3 in conference play.
The game was closely contested in the first half, with the Skyhawks holding a slim one-point lead, 28-27, at halftime. However, Brewton- Parker's robust strategy and spirited play in the second half enabled them to turn the tables and secure a significant 11-point lead by the final whistle. Chasity Degale led the scoring for the Lady Barons, contributing 14 points, while Destanee Wright added another 12 points. Key contributions also came from Tori Dorsey and Angel Mcrae, who both tallied double digits in rebounds, bringing vital energy to the rebounding effort.
Coach Edwards' remarks encapsulated the fierce competitive nature of the game and acknowledged the effort required on the road, stating, 'Road wins are always tough in our league. Coach Tate is a young coach with a bright future, and it shows as she had her team ready to play tonight. They got right after it, resulting in our sloppy play. However, we were able to control the fourth quarter and finish strong. I won't complain about a road win, but we must become consistent and focused as we get closer to the conference tournament.' vs. Thomas
