MCHS Wins Over Dooly
The Montgomery County High School Eagles basketball teams closed out the regular season with three games last week. They then kicked off the Region Tournament on Monday of this week. The Lady Eagles dropped all four of their games with the boys getting a win on Monday over Dooly County. vs. Toombs Co.
MCHS hosted the Bulldogs of Toombs County last Tuesday in Mt. Vernon. The Lady Eagles fell behind early and couldn't keep up. Toombs won the game 62-40.
In the boys' game, the Eagles were also outmatched as they were behind 41-22 at halftime. Toombs went on to win the game 72-37. vs. Wheeler Co.
It was another tough game for the Lady Eagles as they just managed to score 15 points in the game. Wheeler took the win, 47-15.
In the boys' game, Wheeler was up 39-30 at the end of the first half, and in the third quarter, the Eagles cut into the lead and trailed by just three. But in the fourth, Wheeler pulled away to get the win, 75-60. vs. Hawkinsville
It was all Lady Devils in the girls' game on Saturday in Mt. Vernon. They jumped out to a 29-6 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. Montgomery struggled to get anything going on offense and Hawkinsville went on to win the game, 62-17.
In the boys' contest, it was a closer game. The Devils were up by just one point after the first quarter, but a slow second for MCHS put them in a 12-point hole at halftime. MCHS did manage to make up some ground in the second half, but the Devils took the win, 75-66. vs. Dooly
As a part of the Region Tournament, Dooly ran away with the girls' game on Monday of this week in Vienna. Dooly jumped out to a lead and got the win over MCHS, 50-22.
In the boys' contest, the Eagles got their only win of the past week. MCHS fought off the Bobcats to win the game, 6156.
The Lady Eagles finish the year with a record of 2-24. The boys are now 6-20 on the season, and they will play next on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. against Treutlen County. The game will be held at Hawkinsville.
