The Toombs County High School fishing team got off to a delayed start this season after the Lake Seminole tournament was canceled due to a recent winter storm. However, the team is now back on track as anglers AJ Bagby and Levy Martin competed in the second GHSA Qualifying Tournament on February 8, at Lake Oconee.
Facing off against 250 teams from across the state, the Lake Dawgs managed to catch their limit and more throughout the day. Despite their efforts, the bigger fish proved elusive, keeping them out of the top bracket. Bagby and Martin finished the tournament with five fish weighing in at a total of 7 pounds, 7 ounces.
Toombs will return to action on March 8, when they travel to Clarks Hill Lake in Appling, GA.
