VHS Track Season Starts

The Vidalia High School Indians track & field teams had a strong season opener at Savannah Country Day School on Wednesday of last week. The Lady Indians came home with the team championship while the boys placed 2nd to Richmond Hill.
Senior AJ Thomas had a 4 inch personal best in the high jump clearing 6'6' and dominating the field. Other standout performers include: Georgia Meredith and Chamlee Evans both placing 2nd in the 3200, Dashia Ford won the 100m hurdles. We had a clean sweep in the girls 100m with Kayden Love placing 1st, J'Miyah Hunt 2nd and Journey Clements 3rd. Clements, Love, Hunt joined forces with Zaviyana Walton to win the 4×100 relay as well. Andre Jackson had a very impressive meet winning he 100m and 200m. Jackson had a .70 personal best time in the 200.
Coach Mandy Godbee said, “I am so impressed with these athletes. They have trained hard in the off season, and they are so far ahead of where they were as a team last year. We normally do not compete until the last week of February, but this year it was a test to see where we stand and what we need to work on. I am excited about what's to come, I believe they have a very promising season ahead!”
