BPC Barons Drop 2 Games

The Brewton-Parker College Barons basketball team dropped two games last week. They fell to ABAC and to Middle Georgia State. vs. ABAC

In a riveting SSAC conference game held on February 20, in Tifton, Ga., the Brewton-Parker Barons faced a challenging matchup against the Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College Stallions. Despite a valiant effort, the Barons fell short, with a final score of 100-109 in favor of ABAC.

Dre Burroughs spearheaded the charge for Brewton-Parker, racking up an impressive 42 points, making him the leading scorer for the Barons. He was well-supported by Tommy J Tisdale III and Zsolt Burrows, who contributed 15 and 14 points, respectively. Burrows also led the team in assists, with a total of five. On the rebounding front, Sam Faraday- Bensley led with 12 rebounds; he also grabbed two steals, tying with Tisdale for the most steals by a Baron during the game.

The game commenced with Brewton-Parker clinching the early lead, thanks to quick scores by Burroughs. The team maintained a strong front throughout the first half, ending the half ahead 4241. The second half was a seesaw battle that eventually stretched into overtime, highlighting both team's sheer determination. Despite a nail-biting finish to the second half, the Barons could not edge out the Stallions in overtime.

The Barons fell to the Middle Georgia State Knights in the final game of the regular season with a final score of 78-66 on February 22, 2025, at Mount Vernon. Despite a valiant effort, the Barons could not overcome the Knights' strategic play, leaving them with a season record of 7-21 and 3-15 in the conference.

From the start, Brewton- Parker competed. Ferlin Joseph jr. opened the scoring with an agile layup, and Dre Burroughs contributed significantly throughout the game, leading the team with 21 points including several crucial three-pointers. His performance. The first half ended with Middle Georgia State leading 36-26.

The second half saw the Barons struggling to close the deficit. Key defensive efforts by Grant Sanders, who also added 12 points and eight rebounds to his name, were not enough to thwart the Knights' offense.

Looking forward, Brewton-Parker will regroup and prepare for the postseason, which commences on February 27, aiming to turn the tide in their favor after a challenging season.
