Indians Win Over Ridgeland
The Vidalia High School Indians baseball team took on Ridgeland last week on the diamond. VHS played well and got the bats going early as they run ruled the Panthers.
Jackson Berry was on the mound for VHS and struck out 11 batters as the Indians held the Panthers to just one run.
Berry got the Indians on the board in the bottom of the first inning with an RBI double for a 2-0 lead. Ridgeland picked up their only run of the game in the top of the second inning. VHS added to their lead in the third off a sacrifice fly from Braden Mulkey.
VHS closed the game in the bottom of the fifth inning as they scored 8 runs. Berry walked with the bases loaded, as did Mulkey and Ian Moye, to give VHS a 6-1 lead. Henry Adams also walked to bring in a run, and then a fielder's choice by Gabe Cleghorn. Cayden Nance drove in a run, and Veer Patel ended the game with a 2-run triple, as VHS took the win, 11-1.
VHS was scheduled to face off with Bacon County on Tuesday after presstime. They will be back in action on Friday when they travel to Bacon County at 6:00 p.m.
